Job DescriptionThe Entry Level Real Estate Counsel supports Senior Real Estate Counsel by providing real estate legal team support and entails primarily, the reviewing, drafting and negotiating real estate contracts, and other critical documents. The Junior Real Estate Counsel interacts with individuals at all levels of the business.Essential FunctionsDraft, review and negotiate real estate amendments, contracts and other ancillary documents in connection with other complex transactional real estate matters.Evaluates strategies, weigh options and negotiate business and legal terms within the business and risk parameters established by the senior management of the Company.Performs assignments and projects as needed to facilitate and assist with the achievement of business objectives.Review and analyze business and legal issues and disputes, and negotiate acceptable solutions and compromises, involving internal departments, governmental agencies, and other third parties.Investigate, research, and prepare responses to demand letters from individuals and opposing counselConduct detailed research and analysis on complex business and legal issues that have a significant impact on the business.Work with outside counsel who has been assigned responsibility to handle legal matters on behalf of the Company.Develop and execute departmental priorities, plan work for execution, and evaluate completed transactions.Maintain records and documentation of completed real estate transactions.Troubleshoot and correct operational bottlenecks in the contract negotiation process.Cooperating and collaborating with other functional areas of the business such as construction; facilities management; tax; finance; accounting; budgeting; insurance; procurement; safety and health; public relations, and legal and regulatory compliance.Provide litigation support including, but not limited to, collecting, organizing and producing documents in response to all types of discovery requests, drafting and/or revising written responses to discovery requests, managing litigation calendars and maintaining litigation files.Assist Senior Real Estate Counsel with policy drafting and revisionsConduct legal and factual research as requested by in-house counselInteract effectively and efficiently with the Company's external counsel and any opposing parties as neededCommunicate and effectively partner with internal departments and senior leaders, and represent the team in a helpful and professional mannerPerform other duties as assigned by the Real Estate CounselKnowledge, Skills, Abilities and Physical RequirementsJD from an ABA-accredited law schoolBBA/BA/BS degree required with exposure to laws and legal requirements applicable to contractsSelf-starter/independent worker with a high level of creativity, and an ability to creatively solve problems with a variety of variablesGood understanding of various legal processes.Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, some financial reports, legal documents or governmental regulations.Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
